Food Tasting: Angelato Bakery (Part 1)

The other day my cousin was invited to a private food tasting and she was kind enough to DRAG me along with her. It was a food tasting for this new gelato-bakery that is based here in Kuwait. Well let me get something straight I am a BIG FAN of ice-cream and gelato so I can be biased here :P. No, don’t worry I’ll try and give my honest opinion. Angelato is a bakery that opened recently in Burj Jassem, all their GOODS are freshly made using natural ingredients. I enjoyed most of their LOVELY deserts and I meet some WONDERFUL people. So let’s get started and let me show you their ART!

This post is going to be split into 2 parts, the first part I will be talking about the dessert that I’ve tried and my opinion about them. On the second part, I will be showing you the display of their products. On the second part you’ll be able to see an AMAZING BLOGER that I’ve meet!

Angelato’s logo

My diploma is in Business Management, and a great deal of my studies was contracted on how logos are created. So it’s only fair for my INTELAGNCE that I do comment about their logo :P. First I would like to mention that I LOVE the PLAY on words, mixing the word “angle” with “gelato”, and then it gives us “Angelato”. The BEST thing about this name is that NO letter from both words had to be removed, just bring them both together and there you GO! Plus I love the fact the ANGLE is holding an ice-cream cone, or should I say a GELATO cone? :p

Now lets go on with the YUMMY stuff!

"Left:

I really enjoyed both of these cakes they were SUPER yummy. The carrot cake was very moist and the flavor was AMAZING. I liked how in the middle it had some raisins (and I don’t really like raisins in my food) but they were so tender that they felt as if they were the real fruit. So if you’re not a raisin fan YOU’LL still love this one. When the Lavender doom was first served is a bit hard, well because it was in the FREZZER! As it sat out for a few minutes the texture was GREAT! This cake had more of a chewy feel to it, and when you reach the middle of the doom there is a SUPRISE chocolate mousse waiting for you!

Lemongrass Pink Velvet

Lemongrass Pink Velvet

This MARVELOUS cake brought a whole new concept and taste to the pastry industry! The combination of the lemongrass mousse with the SUPER-SUPER moist raspberry cake, gives an explosion to your taste buds. The sourness of the lemongrass with the sweetness of the raspberry is just MIND BLOWIG! The texture of both the cake and mousse are just GREAT! The mousse didn’t make the cake soggy
(which is the problem with most cakes that have mousse). This was my FAVOURITE cake that I’ve tried!

Affgado

Affgado

This is their SIGNATURE drink, it’s a shot of espresso with a drizzling of chocolate. I have to tell you that this is the best coffee I have ever tasted! The SMELL of it was wonderful and made me go to a dream where all I can see is COFFEE. I am a HUGE coffee person and I can’t tell if I’m drinking quality coffee or not, and this is QUALITY coffee no doubt. The flavour of the coffee would be strong at first then it settles in the mouth quite nicely. The bitterns of the coffee is sweetened by the dash of chocolate, yet not to sweet so that you can still taste your INCREDIBLE coffee.

Right: Rose Gelato-Macaroon

These macaroons aren’t filled with the traditional creams, its filled with LUSCIOUS gelatos. I personally ADORE any food that has rose in it, and I just LOVE the smell of rose water<3. This Macaroon did SATISFY my taste buds with the mouth-watering flavour. Not only that but the texture was super chewy and soft, just like how a DREAM macaroon should be. Sadly the coffee macaroon wasn’t as good and could have been better, both in taste and texture.

Vanilla Gelato with a Ginger Biscuit

Vanilla Gelato with a Ginger Biscuit

I’m not a big fan of ginger the taste to me is very unbearable. Then it came to this sweet gelato, its vanilla gelato with a ginger biscuit. The ginger biscuit was sweetened enough that the taste of the ginger itself was mild which I personally LOVED, and above I’m more a vanilla person then chocolate. Don’t get me wrong I still love my chocolate! ❤ So yah this was a great twist to things. The flavors came along very well and this would be one the most things I would recommend to others to try out.

I would like to give credit to my cousin Dalal that took the pictures for me. Thank you so much dear cousin <3. Go to the second part of the blog post to see their WONDERFUL display and the blogger that I meet. Press the link to go to Part 2.

The Breakfast Club!

Few weeks ago my family and I went out for breakfast. My cousin was telling us that we should go and try out this breakfast place that loads of people have been talking about. The place she was talking about and took us to was The Breakfast Club (Twitter link). To tell you the truth when we arrived my mum and I weren’t very thrilled, the location wasn’t the best. HOWEVER, the food made us forget about the location and just dream about AMAZING pancakes! Everything that they served was yummy!!

Bellow you’ll find pictures of the YUMMY food we had and Enjoyed!

Full Classic American Breakfast

This was my order; I love bacon, sausages and mushrooms. With this breakfast you can chose any style of eggs and my favorite it pouched. The mushrooms were SUPER juicy that I really liked. The bacon was tender and juicy yet crispy at the edges which to me made the PERFECT bacon. The sausage was not that great, I didn’t like the taste of it which is sad because I LOVE sausages. I can honestly say that the hash-browns that came with breakfast was the BEST hash-browns I’ve had! The eggs seemed odd to me, for one thing they were really white on the outside. I’ve never seen poached eggs like this :p, but I LOVED them they weren’t over cooked and still a bit runny inside (which I love) and I can tell that they added vinegar to the boiling water because the taste was in the eggs which was GREAT!

Fluffy Pancakes!

The name says it ALL! YES these pancakes are the must fluffiest of pancakes that I have ever eaten. You can see it on my brothers face and his reaction towards them :D. I would go back again and again and MORE just to have these pancakes. I keep dreaming about day and nights wanting to eat them at any time. So don’t say I didn’t WARN you these pancakes are VERY ADDICTIVE! 😀  They aren’t only fluffy but moist too and had great texture to them. Most pancakes tend to be dense, but these weren’t AT ALL. Credits go to my cousin Dalal that took this picture. ❤

Waffles with Vanilla ice-cream

These waffles are YUMMY. I like how they are a bit crispy on the outside and chewy inside. When come to you they are still warm and have and AMAZING smell. I promise you, you’ll love these waffles. I even thought it was very considerate of them to put that many berries with the waffles <3. Most places would just put a couple or a few, but not the Breakfast Club they give you a hand FULL.

After eating all the YUMMY food with my family, I had to give the restaurant a BIG hug!<3

I bet all these YUMMY food has made you hungry and can’t wait to go and try it. YOU should, don’t let anyone stop you or been in your way! Hope you’ll love there food with your friends and family :). To contact the Breakfast Club:

The Humidity Look

In Kuwait a week ago it was very humid, the humidity level was high. I don’t know the percentage of it but the stickiness in the air was unbelievable! I had so many things to do that day; I had to go to the gym, meet up with my cousin, have lunch with and just hang out. For starters I needed to wear something that wouldn’t let me sweat as much, and the answer was something COTTON! If I wore jeans it would be the biggest mistake or anything that contained polyester.  Make-up was a NO NO on that day, it would have been very bad for the skin. The IDEAL thing for me to wear when its humid is a dress, and that’s what I wore :D.

The best part was that the dress was GREEN! My favourite colour

In this picture I am wearing:

  • Sunglass: Vogue
  • Dress: Cost
  • Slippers: Graceland
  • Gym Bag: Armani
  • Bag: LV
  • Watch: Casio
  • Stud Earrings: H&M
  • Watch: Casio
  • Bracelet: Cartier

Salon: Jaz & Joy

In my post “Out with MAMA of to France”, I mentioned that she and I went to a salon called Jaz & Joy to get ourselves pampered before she leaves for her trip. This is the salon that my mum usually goes to, to me it was my second time. The first time I went Jaz & Joy, I got my hair styled for a wedding, manicure-pedicure and my eyebrows reshaped. I really enjoyed the services that they provided and the STAFF WAS REALLY FRIENDLY! This is time I went and got a hair-treatment that was fruit based, change of nail polish and henna design on my hands.

This is the hairstyle was done by Jaz & Joy to a wedding I attended mid of summer2012.

The makeup was done by me. This was the first time that I styled my hair in a “modern” fashion for a wedding. I was very self-conscious of my hair because of that reason. However, by the end of the night I really did love my hair and the compliments that I received!

Henna tattoos on fingers, and my name “Noufa” on the inside of my rest.

I really like how the henna came out! I forgot what the name of the nail-polish colour that I applied, I know it’s a green essie colour. The hair-treatment that I got smells REALLY GOOD! My hair feels soft after it and looks a lot healthier.

The location of Jaz & Joy:

  • Area: Al-Shaab Al-Bahri-Kuwait
  • Block: 8
  • Street: Al-Kandy
  • Building: Mohammad Nasser Al-Arbash
  • Floor: 1  (Next to Flex Fitness)

Chocolate and Macaroon in Kuwait

As I mentioned in my earlier post “Going out with Friends” (check it out!) that my friends and I went to Chocolate and Macaroon for snacks. We ordered food and we shared them. It was the third time that I have tried their food. The first two times I went was for dinner and I never tried the desserts. Yesterday when I was there, IT WASTHE FIRST TIME I TRIED THEIR DESSERTS!

This what we ordered yesterday

As you can see in the picture above on the right top to bottom we ordered; Saronah which is a brownie topped with strawberry cheesecake and Volcano which is a chocolate cake filled with hot chocolate sauce.

On the left of the picture from top to bottom we ordered; Chicken Creaser Salad, Big Story Fries which is French fries with grilled beef hotdog slices with their homemade special cream cheese-mayo-ketchup and their Mr. Mini Cheese Burger.

From the desserts, I personally preferred the Saronah over the Volcano. I liked the sweet and sourness of the cheesecake, I didn’t really taste the chocolate in the Volcano it tasted very mild chocolate. Although it was milk-chocolate, to me it tasted more like white chocolate. On the other hand, compared to other chocolate cakes that are filled with chocolate sauce it was very light. I might be a bit biased, because I like cheesecake more than I do chocolate cake.

The food tasted really good, it was well presented. I liked the chicken in the Chicken Creaser Salad it was very tender, and I liked the fact that it was lightly spiced with salt and paper for the salad. The Big Story Fries was something new to me, when we first ordered it, I didn’t know it contained hotdogs (which it wasn’t a problem). I liked the cheese that was on top of it and that fact that it pink made it look interesting. The Mr. Mini Cheese Burger was THE BEST BURGER; I was shocked that such a small burger can be so juicy and yummy. It was my favourite! 😀

The Morning-Salon Look

This morning, my aunt picked me up to go to the salon. She took me to the salon that she usually goes to, and it’s been years she’s beengoing to it. The salon is called “Al-Jabriya Beauty Salon”; from its name you can see that the salon is located in Jabriya-Kuwait. While I was there I got a manicure, pedicure and got a hair blow-dry. My aunt got the same services I did. The service coast was like any salon I have been to, the only difference the salon did not look very modern. What I mean is that the salon does not look like the “new-fashion” salons that are around, yet they were clean. However, they did use the latest and “in-fashion” fashion products. On the other hand I was very impressed by their service!

In this picture I am wearing:

  • Sunglass: Chanel
  • Top: H&M
  • Leggings: H&M
  • Bag: LV
  • Earrings: Dior
  • Sandals: One the left the pedicure salon slippers on the right H&M

The colours are from Essie nail polish. My colour is the blue colour and it’s called “Bikini so Teeny”, and the orange colour is my aunt’s and it’s called “Cute as a Button”.

To contact Al-Jabriya Beauty Salon:

  • Telephone: 25330280 or 25325809
  • Address: Jabriya, Block 12, Street 7, Building 90, First Flour

Eid Clothes!

The best part of Eid for me is the new clothes part and I can safely say most girls feel the same way too! I remember when I was younger I couldn’t wait for my mum to tell me it’s time to go and buy Eid clothes. For one thing I would take a day off school just to go shopping with my mum for new clothes; this would be in the morning when the malls are less crowded and empty. It’s the most silent time for shopping. I would go and pick out 3 outfits for Eid and I couldn’t wait to go and let my family see my NEW EID CLOTHES!

As I got older getting ready for Eid became a bit more complicated. I had to go to the salon get myself pampered and ready for Eid, get my hair, nails and everything done! Back then I would by 3 outfits for Eid, but now I would only buy one outfit (and sometimes a new bag to go with it) because that outfit would already be THE PRICE OF 3 (but not always)!I would only wear that outfit for the family gathering and then maybe if we went to “some place nice”. However, in all matters getting ready and pampering myself for Eid is so much fun and the feeling is just amazing! 😀

My Eid clothes!

In this picture I am wearing:

  • Scarf: Alexander McQueen
  • T0p: Kooki
  • Belt: Gucci
  • Skirt: River Island
  • Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti
  • Sunglass: Vogue
  • Bracelet Bangles: Chanel
  • Bracelet: Cartier rose-gold love
  • Ring: Bvlgari rose-good and white ceramic
  • Earrings: Chanel

Before I left the house I wore my Rolex watch which I always wear (it’s mentioned in other posts) and I even wore my black Chanel that is mention in my post “The Simple Summer Look”. I will try later on to post that bag on a separate post to show it more clearly.

Stay Lovely,

Henna Time!

So today I went back to Beauty Image salon to get my last minute pampering for Eid. While I was there I got my hair blow-dried and added false eyelashes (will be mention on a later blog). What amazed me while I was there was the amount of girls coming in to get Henna on their hands for Eid. I liked that still there are people that still keep this tradition and take it seriously, but what amazed me more was the amount of women who came in to get Henna hand tattoos and brought their daughters with them. It makes me happy to see that this tradition is a life and well, but now it has a modern twist! 😀

Here are some pictures of Henna hand tattoos:

Just to make things clear, these Henna tatoo desgines where not taken in the salon.
